![]() ![]() Then, Blake licks the bills and the corner that was cut off the 100 bill magically attaches to the one dollar bill and vice versa. He cuts off a piece of the bills and chews them up. He borrows money from the panel–a $100 and $1 bill. The judges were impressed with his first audition, which I don’t think aired? Tonight’s magic trick takes place at the judges desk. ![]() I don’t even remember this act’s audition.īlake Vogt – Magician – He’s a clairvoyant/magician. “I think we can do something really special,” he says. “I loved it!” Howie told him he took cheesy to another level. The band is drowning him out! “Man have you had a switcheroo!” says Mel. He’s pointing at the audience and striking poses. He sings “Feeling Good.” He’s sexed up his performance a little. Daniel promises he took the panel’s advice and added some edge and originality to his act. He is the 17 year old small town Christian kid who sings standards. Simon disagrees.ĭaniel Joyner – Singer – Video package features “Home” by Phillip Phillips. Heidi still thinks the act is repetitive. Mel is not sure cute and adorable are good enough. He’s lucky Simon has a soft spot for dogs. The new routine is more of the same–Carrie hops around on her hind legs as Jose drags her around. ![]() A dog prancing around on it’s hind legs is not that exciting. Jose and Carrie – Dog Act – It’s the guy with the dancing dog, an adorable Golden Retriever named Carrie. The joke is that Howie isn’t a good driver. Howie and George show up at the studio in a golf cart. They weren’t the best act, but with dance acts being few and far between this season, they are as good a choice as any. Guest judge George Lopez chooses Latin dancers, Malevo, as his Golden Buzzer act. I would have put through Madison Watkins first. Also, while his stage presence improved, Daniel Joyner is a mediocre singer and will probably be knocked out of the running by that other standards singer, Sal Valentinetti. Really? That creepy mother/son ballroom act Alla and Daniel advanced? I would have put through the comic Sam Morril. (Photo: NBC.Twenty acts compete tonight, only SEVEN will remain to move on to the live shows, including George’s Golden Buzzer pick. If he can deliver something more in line with his first audition, which was more about humor than audience participation, we can see the voters responding in a big way.ĭo you have a big prediction for Tape Face in the finale? Also, sign up over here to secure some other TV news on everything we cover via our official CarterMatt Newsletter. The biggest thing he’s got going for him is that we can easily see many of the singers splitting the vote, and that could help someone as unique as he is take the top spot. Winner odds – He’s an underdog, but we’re not writing him off completely. He’ll have to find a way to get all of the original magic back, and also get a good placement from producers in the show so that he’s memorable. We’d rather see two or three little gags as opposed to one where he has a lengthy setup. We actually think he is better when he doesn’t bring people in from the judging panel or the audience, since getting them up there takes up a whole lot of time away from what he has to work with. Weaknesses – The past two appearances from him in the live show have been good-but-not-great. In general, he may be one of the most original acts we’ve seen on here through multiple seasons, and that is no small order. He’s probably able to make something out of nothing better than any other act, even the magicians who make things appear and disappear all of the time. He’s insanely creative (and also quite possibly insane period), and has a wicked sense of humor when it comes to visual sight-gags. Strengths – There are no comedians in the finale, so in many ways Tape Face picks up that baton. From there, however, he faced the first bump in the road as he needed the Dunkin’ Save to make it into the finale. Path to finale – After the memorable audition Tape Face and his magic miming breezed through the Judge Cuts before eventually making it to the live shows and getting sent right through to the next round. That is probably why we’ll root for him so much, but also be a little harsher when there are things that could be done better. Before we dive any further into this, we’ll give some full disclosure in saying that Tape Face is probably our personal favorite of the remaining acts. ![]()
